For future generations
Species Preservation Foundation

Home   >   Species Preservation Foundation

The Foundation enables animal lovers to financially assist the zoo in the work that it undertakes in breeding and holding endangered species, knowing that their contribution is tax deductible. The zoo robustly supports programs for the conservation of many species that are listed by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature [IUCN]. Five of those species here are Critically Endangered (CR), five are Endangered (EN) and a further six species are listed as Vulnerable (VU).

In addition, we support and breed many species which are very close to being listed. Much of this work is behind the scenes – particularly our breed and return to the wild work with Bush-stone Curlews and Greater Bilbies.

All of this work is currently unfunded – the zoo pays for it out of its own revenue.

Now that the establishment of the Foundation is finalised, animal lovers are able to make tax-deductible donations to help us to continue and expand this work. There is so much more that we can do!!
