Home   >   What to Bring

The Darling Downs Zoo is open to visitors every day of the year except Christmas Day.
The zoo opens at 9am. Last admissions are at 3pm. The gates close at 4pm.

Like all outdoor activities, you will require sunscreen, a hat and water bottle. Free sunscreen is available at the Zoo entrance for your convenience. Some parts of the Zoo are more shaded than others so please dress for the weather.

We suggest you look up the weather forecast before you come.  Our weather here on the Downs can be quite different to that on the Coast and in Brisbane.

Seasons

The Zoo is in a rural area of Queensland. It can be hot in summer and cold in winter.

So bring:

  • a hat
  • cool clothes for the hot days, but it doesn’t hurt to cover up
  • warm clothes for the colder days. And, a wind cheater for those westerly winter winds.

Walking

Our paths are outdoor country paths, so bring good, comfortable walking shoes, walking aids and an umbrella if it’s going to rain.

We provide free sunscreen and fly spray for your convenience.

Hygiene

It is in everyone’s interest to maintain social distancing and good hygiene.

Hand sanitising stations are located throughout the zoo and hand washing facilities are available near our Lions and in the toilet blocks.
