What's New at the Zoo:
An exciting new way to get up close and personal with animals that are hard to see in the daytime!
EVENING ZOOFARI - A COOL WAY TO SEE THE ZOO IN THE SUMMER!
Experience the sounds of darkness at the Darling Downs Zoo and enjoy visiting with our animals after the sun goes down. On Saturday nights, from October through to April, we offer you a unique opportunity to visit the zoo after hours.
At 6pm join us for an Aussie BBQ of mouth watering meat, fresh salads, fruit salad and ice cream followed by tea, coffee or cold drinks while we listen to the sounds of the awakening jungle.
Then, venture forth with your experienced Zoofari guide on a torchlight tour of the animal kingdom. You will see all the nocturnal animals that are normally asleep during the day. Bettongs, Wombats, Tawny Frogmouths, Wallabies and lots of Aussie animals are much more active in the cool of the night. Our Lions and rare Sumatran Tiger also enjoy the cooler night air although some of the Monkeys will be sound asleep. An up close and personal photo encounter with a harmless snake will conclude your evening.
Our guide has a wealth of knowledge about our animals to share with you and you will get some photo opportunities of a lifetime. Don't forget to bring your camera.
As an extra bonus, Evening Zoofari participants are able to visit the zoo during normal daylight hours on either the day of your Evening Zoofari experience, or on the following day, at no extra cost. This offer gives you the best of both worlds - enjoy the animal kingdom by day and by night!
This is a very personalised experience so numbers are strictly limited. Minimum and maximum numbers apply. Bookings are essential - it is not possible to just turn up on the day and expect to participate.
