RAIN REPORT

06-Oct-2018

The zoo has received a handy amount of rain over the past 24 hours but today [Sunday 7 October] has dawned bright and sunny and the forecast is good.

However, our paths are soft and there is one section of black soil mud path on a temporary bypass.  They are expected to remain like this for some days until everything dries out.

The paths are not suitable for anyone with any sort of mobility issue at the moment.

Additionally, the giraffe paddock is too soft to allow the giraffes to have safe access to it.  They are not very sure footed in wet conditions and can easily slip and injure themselves. Accordingly, they will be out of sight, or viewable only from a distance, in their hard standing yard or stables until the ground improves.

If you are planning to visit us today we recommend that you bring some wet weather gear with you [just in case!] and that you wear suitable footwear.

We are sorry for any disappointment but hope that you realise that animal and visitor safety and welfare will always be our top priority.
