NEW FOR THE HOLIDAYS!25-Dec-2015
New arrivals for the summer holidays include a beautiful White Wallaby joey, several Red Kangaroo joeys, baby birds and a trio of young Capybara.
Capybaras are the world's largest rodents. They originally hail from South America where they are widely spread. Ours came to us from the Adelaide Zoo which imported some recently and has since had outstanding breeding success with them. Unfortunately zoos are not permitted to breed this species in Queensland so our new arrivals are three brothers - the only Capybaras in Queensland!
They are living with our two Brazilian Tapirs and, on hot days, you can sometimes see them all enjoying a swim in their large pond.
The zoo is open every day, except Christmas Day, during the summer holidays.
