Spring has come a little early to the Darling Downs Zoo this year.
Many of our plants and trees are starting to bud but the real excitement is in the animal families.
We have not one, but two beautiful little Blackbuck babies. These are a native Antelope of India but our little herd is thriving here on the Downs.
All of our four Red Kangaroo females have a joey in the pouch and the more adventurous ones are already starting to check out the big wide world.
We are very excited about our new baby Baboon - just three weeks old today. We think that this baby is a female which is wonderful news for the Australasian breeding program for this species. We imported two young female Baboons from the Warsaw Zoo, in Poland, a couple of years ago. Now both of them have happy, healthy babies.
Also in the Primate department, two of our Rhesus Macaques are due to give birth any day. One of those births will give us three generations of the family living at the zoo.
The weather on the Downs this weekend is going to be fine and warm so come and check out our Spring babies!
