CHEETAHS have arrived at the Darling Downs Zoo!

Thanks to the financial support of animal lovers, Col and Gwen Embrey, the Darling Downs Zoo has been able to construct a world class Cheetah conservation facility.  The Embreys own the Burpengary Furniture Store at Narangba and have been extremely generous in underwriting this whole project. Col and Gwen are long time supporters of worthwhile animal welfare projects and recognised the dilemma facing Cheetahs in the wild.  With their backing we have been able to build a facility suitable for breeding Cheetah in Australia and have located it's first residents overseas.

Four beautiful young Cheetahs have arrived at the zoo from the UK's premier Cheetah breeding zoo - Hamerton Zoo Park in Cambridgeshire.

The Darling Downs Zoo's directors spent a couple of weeks in England getting to know the animals and learning about their likes and dislikes.  The Cheetahs enjoyed a relaxed flight from the UK and quickly settled into quarantine at our zoo.

They have now successfully completed their quarantine and passed all of their health checks.

You don't have to book a time to see them!  You can see them out and about all day, every day from 9am to 4pm. Last daily zoo admissions are at 3pm.

Our zoo, and the Cheetah population in Australia, owes a huge debt of gratitude to Col and Gwen Embrey and Burpengary Furniture.
